Learning to Teach...

It has come front and center to my mind lately that I need to do more in teaching my children some of the basic truths of the gospel. It's been humbling, but I promise to do better. A couple of my reality checks:

1. I intercepted a tithing envelope from Tessa a couple of weeks ago.... and quickly scribbled over the note she had written on the back of it: "Dear bishop, heres som mony for you. I hope you can bye sumthing you want."

We had our Family Home Evening lesson tonight on tithing.

2. I overheard Trevor explaining to Tessa what missionaries are: "They're these guys that just go to RANDOM COUNTRIES and teach about the gospel."

Our lesson next week is missionary work.

  1. I agree with the teaching. I have lately been strongly impressed to really give our kids a good foundation. They are going to need to be SO STRONG for what lies ahead.

  2. That note from Tessa is classic! It's obvious that you guys are great parents because you have great kids!

  3. I was just having a very similar conversation with one of the ladies I visit teach - it seems like all of the v.t. messages this year have been the very basic fundamentals of the gospel...I'm so grateful for the help the church gives me in being a parent!

  4. That is a classic I love it your kids are so darling. I love having Katie in my class she is so much fun. I am going to be so sad after the first of the year because I will loose all my cute beehives but I will receive 2 new ones I am really excited to get to know. I told them that they would all still be half mine. I also agree with teaching better I am the worst at not doing a lesson for FHE just going somewhere and doing something fun as a family but I am with you I need to be better so count me in!!

  5. To funny for words!!! We did so much better with the boys, but we have found the same thing with Sarah. It's just alittle reminder that we are not done. It's a lifetime calling! :)
